At Kopla I have been responsible for art creation from start to finish (minus animation work) for all aspects of game development. We are a flat organization that works on rapid iteration and is constantly testing out new ideas. As such we work closely across disciplines as a team to test out our ideas and use the best to move forward while focusing on a high level of presentation and polish.
I continue to have the great fortune of being able to flex my creative muscle and help with everything needed. My responsibilities include Concept Art, 3D Characters, Environments, UI/UX, VFX, Asset integration, Managing Outsource Partners, and Promotional Material.
July 2012 - February 2017
As a Lead Artist at Backflip Studios I was responsible for a game's entire look and feel as well as making sure we delivered our assets on time and of the highest quality. I was able to do this by creating style guides and pipeline documentation while utilizing each individual's strengths, creative energy, and time so that my team members were able to come into work and focus on what they loved and do it really well.
I worked with the Engineering and Design teams on a daily basis to make sure that we understood not only the technical limitations of the game but the creative vision and function(s) needed so we could create the best art possible. I also worked closely with, and put together presentations for, Management and Marketing to make sure they had the assets and art they needed to show off the game properly both internally and externally.
During this time I also gained experience working with art outsourcing studios and contract freelance artist.
February 2011 - July 2012
At Backflip I did a wide variety of tasks including UI, sprite creation, marketing material, characters, effects, and environment creation, plus many other responsibilities, I really have had the chance to do it all. I have also enjoyed being able to meaningfully contribute to the design of the games I've worked on by working hand in hand with the rest of the team to try and make the best games we can.
May 2008 - February 2011
During my time at Gameloft I was given a wide assortment of tasks including characters, environments and effects across many different platforms. I have 7 shipped titles under my belt from my time at Gameloft. I could not be happier to have been a part of this amazing organization and am thankful I was able to work with some of the most passionate and creative people I have ever met.
